You spoke. We listened. We heard that the Black community felt underrepresented on Depop and we committed to change that. We know that showing up is about more than just visual representation. It’s about equity. It’s about how we make our work. It’s about what we’re doing internally.
Collaboration & Celebration
This campaign was co-created with the Black Depop community – both on the app and in our teams – so they could define their own agenda. To make sure Black experiences were central to the entire creative process, we worked with Black creatives for each stage of this project – with research from On Road, creative direction from paq works and production from Out Since Tuesday. Shout out to them all for helping push us creatively.
In this campaign, we’re spotlighting the Black community on Depop as they celebrate self-love, share their lived experiences and showcase the unlimited expression of Black identity. The full campaign film premiered on 2 October.
We want to make sure that the Black community is represented in-app as well as in our content. From today, we’re using the hashtag #blackondepop to create a visible space for Black sellers. This means you can search #blackondepop in-app to discover new Black-owned Depop shops and Black sellers can tag their Depop listings with #blackondepop for extra visibility.
