Find it on Depop

Events

2020 has taught us a lot of things – like how it is possible to make an ad during lockdown. And support independent creatives in the process.

“Shooting during lockdown was quite weird, obviously with all the masks and smaller sets, clients watching over Zoom, social distancing and locations being very empty. But the good side of it was feeling having the space, time and some peace to shoot in.” – Terry Paul

Planning a shoot in lockdown while staying within the restrictions was a creative challenge. But seeing it as an unexpected opportunity made us realise the best way to do this was to hand the camera over to as many directors as we could. We’d ask them to cast their friends to star in the ad and ship them clothes found on Depop to wear – of course.

Through Thursday’s Child, we met Frankie, Lusha, Terry and Sylvie, independent directors based out of London, Montreal and Berlin. Working together with all four, this is what we made.

Meet the directors below.

Frankie Perez
New York-born, Frankie is a director and photographer currently based in Montreal. He draws inspiration from his dance background to create his raw, youthful and energetic style.

Lusha Alic
Lusha is a fashion photographer and director, originally from Slovenia now based in London. She explores the unexpected sides of beauty, emotions and sensuality.

Terry Paul
Terry is a director and editor from London. He draws his inspiration from futurism/Afro-futurism, architecture, real stories and life experiences.

Sylvie Weber
Sylvie is a filmmaker and director from Berlin of German-Dominican descent. She has been featured in i-D’s creative class, and works with the NGO, Journalists for Human Rights.
