LGBTQIA+ resources from Depop's community

Pride 2020

We know that supporting the LGBTQIA+ community isn’t just limited to Pride month. We want to facilitate ongoing education and awareness.

So we’ve asked some of the LGBTQIA+ community on Depop to share resources and causes they care about. Read. Watch. Donate. Let’s carry on supporting the marginalised and underrepresented.

LGBTQIA+ Useful Resources

We chatted to 6 of our LGBTQIA+ sellers about the key causes, collectives, charities and cultural resources that are so important for the community.

Donate: The BFTA Collective
The BFTA Collective works to support specifically Black Trans-femme individuals suffering from any type of violence, as well as sheltering homeless Trans-femmes. This is an especially important cause because it’s focused on solely benefiting a targeted group of people.

Donate: The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project, aside from being an outstanding organisation, also just holds a special place in my heart. It was actually the first resource I ever looked to online about transitioning. They have 24/7 hotlines or – one on one private messaging if preferred – for a huge variety of individual circumstances.

I really love when I get their newsletter in my inbox, there’s always a headline that connects to some part of myself or someone in the community who I care about. I love that they breach issues in an engaging and inventive way.

Donate: Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project
This project does crucial community building work for the folx with all of these intersecting identities and ensures they’re able to have their needs met.

@lgbt_history is an instagram account that documents pivotal moments in LGBTQ+ history. Educating yourself on this history is essential for both LGBTQ+ folk and allies, we must respect the sacrifices that have been made to get where we are now.

Donate: Black LGBTQIA+ Therapy Fund
Direct action and direct donations are two of the most effective ways to instigate change. Donate to crowdfunding pages in your local LGBTQ+ community. This specific page is funding for black LGBTQ+ community members to receive therapy, it’s a great cause. Donate away angels!

Marsha P. Johnson is a huge inspiration to me, as well as being part of the Stonewall riots she was the mother of taking fashion risks and being unapologetically her!
